John Harlow
Smart Cities Research Specialist
John Harlow is the Emerson College Engagement Lab’s Smart Cities Research Specialist, an Affiliated Researcher at the Arizona State University Center for Smart Cities and Regions, and a Visiting Fellow at New York University’s GovLab. He is currently working on Boston’s Betablocks smart city action research project, a National Science Foundation grant to build a visual analytics tool for information deserts, Making Civic Smart Cities workshops, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant “Opening pathways for discovery, research, and innovation in health and healthcare.” John’s prior work includes the design of the prioritization workshop that produced the first draft of Phoenix’s 2050 transportation plan, and project management and public engagement for Reinvent Phoenix’s rezoning around Phoenix’s light rail.
