Emerson Holloway
Graduate Student
Masters Student, 2022 - 2023
Emerson (yes, like the school) graduated from Oberlin College in 2022 with a degree in English and Comparative American Studies. She is interested in how visual and written media can teach children and young adults how to think critically, practice empathy, and make meaning in their various communities. Emerson believes that media and design, when harnessed intentionally, can be beneficial educational tools that challenge conceptions of social and cultural norms. When used well, visual and written media can create spaces of curiosity, inclusion, and care that may not have otherwise existed.
Emerson chose Emerson's Media Design program to explore how young people can learn outside the boundaries of traditional academic classroom settings. She hopes to continue her focus on media literacy and usage in children and young adults by moving into museum education or publication work.
