About Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change

Incorporated in 2007, the Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change has worked for 10 years to create and sustain networks invested in using media for positive social change in the world. Since it’s inception, the Academy has convened over 600 young media innovators and makers from over 50 countries around the world, to build media technologies, practices, pedagogies and networks that have addressed the most pressing concerns of contemporary global culture. Located in the renowned Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria (the base for the film “The Sound of Music”), undergraduate and graduate students work in an interdisciplinary and participatory action research environment, with organizational partners, to build and design media and digital literacy initiatives that focus on topics climate change, migration, human rights, expression, and beyond.
