Problem Space

From global populism, to misinformation and migration, the Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change tackles a number of social and political issues through civic media and collaborative innovation.

Proposed Intervention

Located in the renowned Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria (the base for the film "The Sound of Music"), undergraduate and graduate students work in an interdisciplinary and participatory action research environment with organizational partners to build and design media and digital literacy initiatives that focus on topics including climate change, migration, human rights, expression, and beyond.

Social Impact

Since its inception, the Academy has convened over 600 young media innovators and makers from over 50 countries around the world to build media technologies, practices, pedagogies, and networks that have addressed the most pressing concerns of contemporary global culture.
