The Philosophy Coffee series is back for for the Spring semester with lots of engaging new topics to discuss across a variety of disciplines!
About Philosophy Coffee:
Philosophy challenges people to move beyond uncritical patterns of thought, to recognize problems, and to exchange a more naive world view for a more considered and justifiable one. In doing so, people learn to think in ways that are simultaneously both disciplined and imaginative.
Philosophy coffees are informal discussions, hosted by the Engagement Lab, to discuss today’s most urgent questions. All members of the Emerson community are welcome. Complimentary coffee and snacks will be served!
Finding Malcolm, Finding Boston:
Join us for a conversation between Assistant Professor Lizzy Cooper Davis and theater artist Will Power about “Detroit Red,” Power's upcoming ArtsEmerson production about Malcom X’s time in Boston. Power has collaborated with artists from across the nation, Emerson students and Roxbury residents over the past two years to create a series of works around the Detroit Red era of Malcolm's life including, the play, a short film, a graphic novel, and performance piece.
Be sure to check out the world premiere of Detroit Red, which will be showing at the Paramount Theatre from February 1st to the 16th!
